As we usher in the official arrival of summer, we're proud to highlight the outstanding accomplishments of this year’s President’s Teaching Award winners, the much anticipated release of the AI Task Force Report, the launch of GenAI Literacy Course Modules, and the next phase of the AI Virtual Tutor Initiative with U of T’s Cogniti pilot. Alongside a suite of events to help you prepare for the next academic year, this month also brings the call for LEAF Expressions of Interest for the Fall Cycle.

Release of the AI Taskforce Report

The AI Task Force, under the leadership of Professor Susan McCahan, has published its final report envisioning a comprehensive and human-centred vision for responsible AI adoption at U of T and continued steps toward becoming an ‘AI-ready’ university.

Introducing Open U Toronto's GenAI literacy modules

The Digital Learning Innovation team is pleased to share the launch of a new open education resource, Coursework and GenAI: A Practical Guide for Students. This resource is intended to provide instructors with customizable content modules designed to enhance Generative AI literacy among students. The editable format supports flexible adaptation, ensuring that these modules can be integrated into existing courses across various disciplines.

The hope is that it will help people stay abreast of emerging changes that will potentially impact work at the institution. The Global Classrooms initiative, presented by the Centre for International Experience and the Office of the Vice-President, International, offers funding for internationalized teaching and learning experiences to enable global and cross-cultural collaborations.

Call for Proposals - International Student Experience Fund

The International Student Experience Fund (ISEF) provides funding for projects that enhance the international student experience across all campuses.
  • Seed ($5,000–$15,000/year): intended to encourage experimentation. Applications accepted on a rolling basis.
  • Impact ($15,000–$75,000/year): designed to support large-scale projects with the potential to significantly enhance core elements of international student experience. Letters of Intent for Impact grants due Tuesday, November 11.

Call for Applications: Community-Engaged Learning Faculty Fellowship Program

The Centre for Community Partnerships seeks applications for its Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) Faculty Fellowship Program. The Fellowship recognizes and supports innovative instructors who plan to develop new, or enhance existing, CEL courses. The Fellowship provides an opportunity for pedagogical development and recognizes educational leadership through a model that partners emerging CEL instructors with senior fellows who have demonstrated excellence in CEL and in supporting colleagues newer to CEL.
