Online Learning Strategies
Online Learning Strategies (OLS) is committed to the development and implementation of the University’s online learning strategy. To support this mandate, OLS’s strategic framework is built around five key areas of support:
- access
- program path (helping students speed or catch up)
- content development
- format (asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid)
- instruction and assessment strategy
OLS also houses a database of courses being offered in various online formats.
And the following special interest groups are coordinated by OLS:
OLS provides support through four key operational areas:
- facilitating programming and funding initiatives to support course development work
- coaching for faculty in the pedagogy of online teaching and course development as well as the essential technical skills
- extending the capacity of instructional design staff and resources to support online course design and implementation
- quality assurance for online courses
OLS reports to the Chief Information Officer.
OLS partners with the VPIUE Office and Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation on a number of key initiatives, including:
- online and hybrid courses
- Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
- Open Education Resources (OERs)
- e-proctoring
